OM MAÑANA RECAP
We're wrapping up our second week of the OM MAÑANA series! So far we've covered the themes of love & pain. A few key highlights below from our daily reflections as well as some of the literature that has inspired the sessions.
Love - Week 1
Summary: Love pushes us beyond our comfort zones, to live more fully into the greatest, most free and vulnerable versions of ourselves
Key Quote: “To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.” – C. S. Lewis, The Four Loves
Pain - Week 2 (Holy Week)
Summary: Exploring the unifying principles of pain: solidarity that we are all suffering, all going through this uncertainty together. It’s an odd comfort that we are actually not alone in the midst of our loneliness
Key Quote: "We are meant to live in joy. This does not mean that life will be easy and painless. It means that we can turn our faces to the wind and accept that this is the storm we must pass through. – Desmond Tutu
