Celebrating Earth Day

As we celebrate Earth Day, we reflect on our commitment to sustainability and community well-being through Ubuntu Life's Lunch Program, which nourishes our Ubuntu Life kiddos. This initiative is made possible by the incredible support from the Rees-Jones Foundation, which funded our water system—a vital resource for our campus.

With the acquisition of one acre of land, we dug a borehole and laid nine miles of pipeline to bring drinkable water to the Ubuntu Life campus. This water not only provides hydration for our children at the Children's Wellness Center but also supports our Ubuntu Cafe and nurtures our thriving farm.

Our organic farm, expertly managed by Dennis, utilizes innovative practices like earthworm composting and rabbit urine as natural fertilizers. We also raise chickens and rabbits, which not only contribute to our sustainable practices but also provide pet therapy for our kiddos, fostering their emotional well-being.

In addition to growing fresh produce, we've initiated a vocational program for our children, teaching them valuable skills and helping them understand where their food comes from. This hands-on experience empowers them to be active participants in their nutrition and the health of our planet.

At the Children's Wellness Center, our lunch program ensures that the kids receive nutritious meals, with an impressive 85% of what's on their plates sourced straight from our garden. This connection to their food fosters appreciation and understanding of healthy eating.

Interconnectedness is the Ubuntu way, and this Earth Day, let's celebrate the bonds we share within our community, our environment, and our children. Together, we are nurturing both our land and our future. Thank you for your continued support!
