Reflections from Cindy (Zane's Mom)
As a child growing up, all I wanted to be was a mother. I have always cared for children since I was 10 years old. Needless to say, my dreams came true when God blessed me with four beautiful boys!! I prayed fervently for God to guide each of them where he needed them.
As my husband, James, and I just completed a whirlwind trip to visit Zane and Amal in Kenya, it is evident that God is doing a mighty work through Zane! What started as the Kenya Project, to Comfort the Children and is now Ubuntu Life has become one the largest employers in Maai Mahiu, Kenya. The organization started out to help build schools for children but then saw the need to help the special needs children who weren’t allowed to attend these schools. So, a small school was started for them. Then the mothers of these children needed a way to support these children, so they began working for Ubuntu, making bags, bracelets, and shoes. Ubuntu Life now sits on eleven and a half acres with the manufacture building, a beautiful cafe that Whole Foods originally helped build, a water bottle facility and a beautiful 22,000 sq ft hospital/school for the special needs children, built with the help of Dell Children’s Hospital. I personally was able to experience this beautiful facility and was greeted with so much love and joy from both the children and the Mums. This was definitely my highest of my highs with our recent trip. And my hope is to see Ubuntu Life continue to grow. God has definitely had a hand in my son Zane’s life and he has definitely answered my prayers over and beyond my expectations. The first 20 years of this venture have flown by. I have watched so many wonderful people and groups give of themselves to build the vision into reality. It has been like watching a towering tree grow from a tiny seed. It is that evidence that gives hope and anticipation in the knowledge that I will see even greater things than these which continually fill this mother’s heart with so much joy.
Happy Mother’s Day to every mother and may God bless you all!!
Blessings and Big Love from Mama Zane
