On August 9, 2022, voters across Kenya and the diaspora will head to the polls for another general election. Nationally, two front-runners—Deputy President William Ruto and long-time opposition leader Raila Odinga—are facing off to succeed outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta. He is completing his second and final term in office. Voters will also elect the members of the National Assembly and Senate, county governors of Kenya, and members of the 47 county assemblies of Kenya.
Many Kenyans choose to vote in their rural ancestral homes. We will close our Maai Mahiu Studio for a week to allow our Makers to travel. If you're in Kenya and thinking of passing by, we'll be out from Monday, August 8, back Monday, August 15. See you then!
