Celebrating Laura’s Remarkable Journey

Celebrating Laura’s Remarkable Journey

We are proud to share the inspiring story of Laura Nyambura, a courageous 7-year-old who has been part of our sister foundation’s health and education program for the past five years. When Laura joined us, she faced significant developmental delays, including challenges with neck control and difficulties with feeding and swallowing—conditions associated with Cerebral Palsy and Autism. As the third-born in her family, Laura’s journey is one of resilience and hope. Her story is intertwined with that of her incredible mother, who has been a steadfast anchor throughout this journey. She has confronted stigma, societal perceptions, and physical challenges head-on to ensure Laura had every opportunity to thrive.

Laura’s mother experienced the profound heartbreak of losing Laura’s twin at four months, and the complex and emotional journey of raising a child with multiple disabilities. Yet through every challenge, she has remained unwavering—celebrating each of Laura’s milestones with fierce love and quiet strength, even while facing her own struggles.

Today, we celebrate one of those milestones: Laura’s ability to walk. This achievement stands as a testament to her mother’s dedication and to the tireless work of the occupational therapists and teachers who have walked this path alongside her.

While we continue working toward Laura’s feeding independence, we remain hopeful and deeply proud of her progress.
