Join us in celebrating the remarkable journey of Teresiah and her son Jimmie with Ubuntu Life. From Teresiah's dedicated work in our bag department to Jimmie's infectious joy and progress at the Wellness Center, their story embodies resilience, love, and empowerment.
Currently 17, Jimmie has been with the Ubuntu Life’s Childrens Wellness Center since he was just four months old; born with delayed developmental milestones, he is deaf and nonverbal. Jimmie receives specialized education and therapy tailored to his needs, helping him grow and flourish in ways that initially seemed challenging. With unwavering support, Jimmie has found a safe space where his communication skills have improved significantly.
For Teseriah, being Jimmie’s mother has taught her the importance of acceptance and visibility. She believes that society should learn to coexist, with people of all abilities sharing the same space and understanding each other.
What Teresiah cherishes most about Jimmie is his gentle and positive demeanor. He adores playing football and often does little things just to make his mom smile. One of her favorite moments is when he playfully pretends to sing into a broken torch, putting on a performance filled with laughter and love.
