Stories of impact from the hands that beaded your LOVE Bracelet.

Jackline has worked with UBUNTU Made since the beading project began in Ngong. She got married at the young age of 13 and has been blessed with 4 children. She has a beautiful Maasai name, meaning “blessings”.

Jackline explains how excited she is to still be working with UBUNTU Made. A dedicated woman in all that she does, Jackline has been able to support her family and upgrade their house from a small Maasai hut (“Manyata”) to a bigger and better home. She's also very proud to own the very first latrine in her community! With all the money she earns from beading she will be able to finish building it soon!

“I am saying kwaheri (goodbye) to a bush toilet and a neighbor’s latrine, and hello to owning one of my own!”

Jackline has also joined the Adult Literacy program in Ngong to learn how to read, write, and support her business. Jackline owns 200 sheep and goats which generates income to support her and her family. Additionally, she sells firewood to the hotels in a nearby shopping Center with the help of her husband during low beading seasons.

“I am where I am with the help of UBUNTU Made. My prayer is to get bigger and better!”
