Keep it Real, Keep it Local

It’s a bright Sunday morning during breakfast that Café Ubuntu crew gave us a great experience of what it means to have a Café Ubuntu garden “Farm to table”.

The gardens consist of a variety of vegetables including kale, spinach, cabbages, sweet potatoes, onions, and tomatoes. The yield harvested in the gardens supplements Café Ubuntu with fresh and healthy vegetables.

We started by gathering all our ingredients from the garden!

Working in collaboration with Mama Hope and Yes to Carrots, we have a demonstration garden that teaches sustainable farming methods and promote environmental awareness to community. 

From our Café Ubuntu garden, we were able to do frittata and sweet potato hash for breakfast. Look out the locally available ingredients.

Frittata ingredients: -

  • Eggs
  • Spinach
  • Tomatoes
  • Cheese
  • Dill
  • Pepper
  • Salt

Sweet potato hash ingredients: -

  • Sweet potatoes
  • Onions
  • Fennel
  • Butter
  • Pepper
  • Salt
  • Brown sugar
  • Olive oil
